The Old Malt is a historic building in Kosice, which is also a historical monument. It is located on the steep terrain and in the heart of today's business center. It is a building that is neglected and requires revitalization, as well as its surroundings. There is a need to revitalize the object and the surroundings so as to fit into the new structure of the city, and at the same time , the historical subject had not been violated.

Urban design:

In the first part of the thesis I propose a complete entire zone area, but more particularly close to the territory of the Old Malthouse. The proposal respects the master plan from r. 2015th.

In the first part I propose the whole territory divide into 4 units, connected by a pedestrian communications from old malt house to the shopping center Galleria and so linking the Old and New city safe. Functionally, it is the administrative zone from the part of Galleria, housing with a zone oriented into a large park and which offers a safe living with full views to the city. Furthermore, the park is a place for recreation, sport and cultural activities from the part from old malt house. In this case, the old malt separate urban zone and represents a sort of entrance to the park, a new urban area with a vibrant historic heart in Kosice.

In the second part of the Pre-diploma work I solve the territory of the Old Malthouse. I try to complete the urban structure of the site of the New bussines center in Kosice, with emphasis on respect for the historic building. I try create responsive and effective transition between the lively city center and historic structures with the park. I chosed the functions in the new area which provide residents and visitors a balanced mix of full-fledged functions in urban areas with good public spaces. I valorise the important historic moments and locations follows the creative tradition.

Background of Revitalization of the old malt house

1. Build on existing zones functions and quality – park : Old Malt House is located in one of the busiest districts of Kosice. The new structure would encourge, shape and organically accrete with momentary surroundings, despite the strong ambient constructions.

2. Create a model for the new center of Kosice: Preserving the original historical value, complete to urbanization, land use intensity and track functionality can create and support the emergence of a new high quality urban area.
